Well, my goal was not achieved. I really need to get better at this. But, at least it has only been just over a month this time. I have been spending some time restoring old photographs this winter and that has kept me busy. I am excited for some new projects. We recently gave my daughter a hedgehog for her birthday and so of course I had to take some photos of her.

Setting a Goal

I think I need to set some goals as far as my blog is concerned. I have so many gorgeous photos I can share and just never seem to add anything to this blog. So my goal for 2017 is to make at least ONE post to my blog per month. I think that if I stick to something small than it will become a habit and next year hopefully my goal could be something larger. I think part of the reason I don't post to my blog is that I feel that a blog post of photos still needs to be accompanied by something written. I read tons of blogs on all different topics and they all have something in common, a good story. When I post to Facebook I hardly ever add the story behind the photo. Every photo has a story and as a photographer I want the viewer to be able to look at a photo and feel the story. Just maybe, through developing a good habit I can become a BLOGGER as well.

Stepping outside of your comfort zone--Family Photographer Anne Arundel County

As the days drew nearer to the date of this photo shoot I began to worry. We had rain on the forecast for the entire weekend and we couldn’t reschedule because they were moving out of the area. I called the morning of the photo shoot to double-check what their thoughts on the situation were and they wanted to proceed. As I drove through the pouring rain I began to fret over where we may end up since I had never had a shoot at this particular spot. I thought to myself, “Perfect, I didn’t even bring an umbrella.” It was still raining as they pulled up and I found an umbrella in my daughter’s dance bag and we just went for it. We did some with each of the umbrellas we had out along the pond and then I spotted a dry area in an office complex that we were able to monopolize and put the baby down. I just loved the ones of him crawling around. We took a stroll around the office building stopping for pictures along the way, everything turned out just as it should. There are just some days you have to work outside of your comfort zone.

Newborn Lifestyle Photography in Calvert County

Many of you are wondering about newborn photography. My sessions vary from posed portraits to a more down to earth lifestyle session. Both sessions usually run about two hours but the difference in a lifestyle newborn session we just focus on the natural beauty of your child and family. We may do some posed cute pictures but we are also going to get some photos of your family cuddling, embracing, laughing, oohing and awing over your bundle of sweetness, and most important the joy and bliss that this new life has brought to your family.

I have done these types of sessions at clients homes, their relatives homes and just about anywhere in between. I will bring a few items along for props if needed but mostly we use what is readily available at the location of choice.

The Leaves are changing here in Calvert County and Anne Arundel County

The Fall is one of my most popular times for family photos and time slots are filling  rather quickly. I weekday openings if you are just planning on having the children’s pictures taken for Christmas. Can you only have six weekends with availability before my cut-off date to have images for Christmas. I have some believe we are so close to the Holidays?  We live in such a beautiful part of the country and are blessed to experience such beauty. We have colorful trees, beautiful beaches and the ever popular tobacco barns.

What should I wear you ask? My response is usually the same each time; wear something that makes you feel good about yourself. That statement goes for family pictures as well as senior portraits.  If you are comfortable your pictures are going to look more natural and relaxed. Our weather is still warm enough here in Calvert County you can get away with wearing just a long sleeve shirt and jeans if you wanted to do so. Does everyone in my family have to wear the same color? The answer to that is no. I would say go for a cohesive look, or stay in all rich bold colors.

A new PUMPKIN is on her way

Last week I had the pleasure of going to a local pumpkin patch and taking pictures of this sweet couple. It was a perfect Fall morning to capture photos of their upcoming new addition to their family. I can't wait to meet her!

What is on your screen today?

I am trying to get some work done and multitask at the same time. I am in the process of editing these gorgeous senior photos that were taken at Jefferson Patterson Park, at the same time listening to a Bill O'Reilly audio book. This is not my typical go to book choice, and neither is the other audio I che
cked out this morning at the library. My go to favorite authors are Dee Henderson and Debbie Macomber.

Don't forget your props....

If you have a senior in high school this year you are probably wondering what to bring with them to their senior photo shoot. My answer is bring 2-3 outfits they feel comfortable in and something that is unique to them. For some teens that might be a team uniform, dance shoes, sports equipment, or poms. I say if they are a bookworm then bring books, bug collector then bring bugs. The most important thing to senior pictures is capturing who your teen IS!!!

It is still warm out but with school starting back up soon everyone's schedules get full very quickly. I offer on location of your choice photos here in Calvert County, two of my most popular locations are Brownie's Beach and Jefferson Patterson Park because of their diversity. So bring a few of your favorite outfits and meet me down on the beach.

most important resolution

The most important resolution that I will be making this year is TIME for my family. I plan on cutting out those nonessential pieces of my life that always seem to get in the way.

Resolution

January's theme for project 12 is resolution. I am not fond of making resolutions because come face it we(I) don't usually follow through with them. This is something I would like to do this year. I would like to make more time to READ. I would like to read these several books, some of which I have had on my shelves for years and haven't started or finished. I would also love to take more time and let my girls read to me or vice-versa. Lastly my nook, I would like to be able to read beyond this stack of books and that is where my new trusty friend will come in.

Project 12

I have decided to challenge myself this year by working on MCP Actions project 12. I will be trying new things to better my photography.

I have had some fabulous SENIORS for sure this summer. We have had alot of fun at different locations around the area. These few were taken at my studio, Mare Island, and Suisun Waterfront. These are perfect locations for senior pictures and also for family photoshoots.

May Recap

May has been a very busy month for me outside of my photography business. The month has been full of dance, dance, dance, some more dance and a sprinkling of doctors visits. We have attended competitions, conventions, parades, plays and field trips. Oh my as summer is gearing up we just seem to get busier instead of slowing down.
We also had several modeling shoots this month. We had fun using some props and new backdrops.

We are finally online!!!

After a long period of debating opening a website I have finally done it. I finally broke down and purchased the cutest template for my website and have been spending the last month resizing pictures and adding them to my galleries. I have even added several fun and upbeat songs to teh site. The website is very much a work in progress and is changing on a daily basis. Check me out at www.kimberlycrumphotography.com

Mrs. E's Baby Bump

I am completed unsure why it has taken me so long to get these fab photos on here. Mrs. E was so fun to work with and we had a wonderful time. What gorgeous shots we had, but with such a beautiful subject to photograph it was hard not to.

Easter fundraiser at local dance studio

I photographed more than thirty families at a local dance studio for Easter. We had a great deal of fun. I brought in my bunny, bought and dyed some chicks from the feed store and another person brought in some baby bunnies. Such a great day but many little ones went home sad because they weren't allowed to take home the animals.

some modeling for GABERSFASIONBOWS

We modeled these great bows for Gabersfashionbows. They were a perfect match for my Easter knot dress. I used a great Michael Miller print for the dress.
